The new Collective Agreement has been ratified!

Following the Ratification Referendum which took place from March 28 to March 31, 2017, CUPE 2626 is proud to announce that the agreement in principle between the Union and the Employer (the University of Ottawa) for a new Collective Agreement (2016-2019) has been ratified.

Ratification Referendum Results

Members were invited to vote on the following question: “Do you accept the proposed Memorandum of Settlement between CUPE Local 2626 and the University of Ottawa?”

The results are:

  • 96% “yes”
  • 4% “no”

Big thanks to everyone who came to vote. We are proud of this new Agreement which will protect our members for the years to come, and act as a cornerstone for the subsequent round of bargaining.

Bargaining is Over, Now What?

Following the ratification of the agreement in principle by the Union and the Employer (the University also ratified the agreement), the new Collective Agreement is now in effect. The provisions of the Collective Agreement will be implemented retroactively, starting September 1, 2016. Bargaining is over, but the campaign against precarious work continues. We will keep you updated on your new benefits as well as labour issues on campus and beyond.

The official text of the new Collective Agreement will be available within a year, following the review and translation of the various articles. In the meantime, you can review the different changes thanks to the following (bilingual) PDF document, which offers an overview of the new articles.
